Could the Ravens be trying to hire a “dream team” offensive staff? If reports by ESPN and the Baltimore Sun are to be believed, the answer is YES.
Former Houston Texans head coach, Gary Kubiak has emerged as the front runner for the Ravens offensive coordinator position. This comes as somewhat of a surprise, as Kubiak was not mentioned as one of the reported finalists last week that included Kyle Shanahan, Kirby Wilson, Scott Linehan, and Jeff Hostler. Kubiak has fairly impeccable credentials, including being the longtime offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos from 1995-2005.
The bigger news is that Kubiak reportedly wants to bring both Rick Dennison and Kyle Shanahan along with him as offensive assistants. Dennison has been Kubiak’s offensive coordinator in Houston and Shanahan, the former Redskins offensive coordinator, also previously worked for Kubiak as both offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
This would be quite an overhaul of the offensive staff and, in my opinion, would be something to get very excited about as a Ravens fan. Now if only they could bring Andre Johnson along with them from Houston…
