Prior to being drafted by the Ravens last season, offensive tackle Michael Oher was frowned upon by ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay for “character issues.”
Oher has never had run ins with the law and his story has been made into a top selling book by Michael Lewis, The Blind Side, and adapted into a movie starring Academy Award winning actress Sandra Bullock.
Last night, Oher took to twitter to finally call out McShay, the rare emotional expression was documented by Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.
“What is Character issues?!?” Oher wrote on his Twitter account in a rare rant from him. “Somebody tell me? I never got in trouble with the Law . . . yes sir no sir guy . . . But this Todd Mcshay guy acts if he knows ppl on a personal level get real!” What if someone was to talk about your son . . . and he had character issues!!
“Thats how my family felt. You need to meet ppl first and then judge them not go off what you hear!! . . .@McShay13 tell me what are character issues because I dont know… you said I had them and you never met me?! And I respect Mel Kiper way more then I respect you…your a joke!!”
I don’t believe Big Mike is the guy you want to make angry…
I think having a past and having “character issues” are two different things. If you read the Blind Side, Oher did have two run-ins with the law documented in the book, one in high school and one in college. It doesn’t seem like enough to get tagged with “character issues.”
Still, I wouldn’t want to make him angry!
