Jamal Lewis mugshot from child abandonment arrestFormer Ravens running back and Ring of Honor candidate Jamal Lewis was arrested for child abandonment charges in Atlanta.

According to Alexis Stevens at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Lewis was charged and booked into the Clayton County jail shortly after 11 PM for allegedly failing to pay child support.  He spent less than two hours in jail before he was released.

The Ravens plan to induct Lewis into their Ring of Honor on September 27 against the Cleveland Browns.

Lewis is/was scheduled to sign autographs at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore on Friday.  “As of right now, what we know is that he has been released and he we have not heard anything from him,” event organizer Ray Schulte told the Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec. “If he is going to cancel, he has not done so yet.”
