Ray Lewis has to be the greatest motivator since Matt Foley. His on-field presence is enough to get 80,000 fans amped up and even through injuries Lewis has proven to be a valuable commodity to the Ravens on the sidelines.
That’s exactly why Orioles skipper Buck Showalter reached out to Lewis who recorded an inspirational video in an Orioles hat and jersey. Jen Royle tweets that Lewis addressed the team on video as if he was in person.
“It was hella inspirational for me to see that fire that he possesses,” Adam Jones told Royle. “He speaks the truth.”
No planets were harmed in the making of Lewis’ video.
Gee , you would think with all that inspiration from the great Ray Lewis , the Ravens would have made it to more than one super bowl in sixteen years…
Mystery man…no wonder you’d prefer to remain a mystery. You just troll these articles looking to take potshots.
I don’t know the MM, but he does have a point…I guess Lewis forgot to pack his Leadership and Inspiration on his Business Trips to Seattle and San Diego last season, which was unlucky for the rest of the organization…
You dont blame a loss on one person and mystery man is obviously a half wit with no math skills or actual football knowledge. Ray Lewis will go down in history as one of the greatest defense players ever. Screw motivation his intensity on the field every week speaks loud enough. So before you put someone on blast like that, check your facts. Jerkoffs.
He will go down as one of the loudest players and one who sounds off the most , I’m sorry but that doesn’t equate with motivation now does it. All I’m saying is he doesn’t have very good results and that does equate with motivation. If he was being paid on the results of his ability to motivate he would be a poor man , if he was being paid on being loud he would be a rich man.
Allow me to quote Ocho-Stinko: “Child, please.” Ray has been the foundation of this franchise and will someday enter the HoF as one of the greatest PLAYERS of all time. This would seem to be one of those rare good moves by the O’s, but any inspirational message should be delivered to ownership, not the players. Bring in Biscotti and Newsome for a lecture on running a winning organizational. Now THAT would be welcome.
Tim,
The Ravens could teach the O’s how to win the wildcard and “make” the playoffs, but not about winning championships. 1 championship and a meager 3 Division titles in 17 seasons hardly makes the Ravens experts in winning.
Mystery man is absolutely correct on this,,,,,,,,,plenty of times people equate being loud with being right , especially on the political stage and in life itself,,,,,,,but sooner or later you realize being correct has nothing to do with loudness and has everything to do with your results,,,,,,,,in the NFL it’s all about winning the RING , under Ray’s leadership they have one,,,,,,,,,,,maybe Ray should talk to Brady about leadership on the field and off…………..
Spy / All…Question…How many children do you have by women you never married? I only ask since Brady and Ray were mentioned for their Leadership on the field and off…
Tim D. earlier mentioned “Ray has been the foundation of this franchise”…What does that mean, exactly? The same franchise that lost to the Titans in the Playoffs as a Home Favorite? That lost to Indy in the Playoffs as a Home Favorite, while giving up an 8-minute game-ending drive after a bye week off to rest and game-plan? A Franchise that coughed up a double-digit halftime Playoff lead two season ago? “One Super Bowl”.
Seattle…Carolina…Tampa…Atlanta…New Orleans…Tennessee have all been to “One Super Bowl” in the Ray Lewis Era…
My reputation in the community is beyond reproach , I have made many contributions to the communities in which I have lived,,,,,,,,,If you ever want to compare charitable activities with me , just let me know , I dare say yours will pale in comparison to mine as do other things you may have (you started this)……………..
Spy…I wasn’t attacking you…Rather the Off-the-field “Leadership” often give to Ray-Ray and others…While we all know Brady, T., didn’t marry the mother of his first child and we don’t really know much about the mother(s?) of Ray-Ray’s six children…That was my point…
But, if you want to start comparing off-the-field activities, we can do that too, if you’d like… 🙂
My bad , I thought you were attacking me , and I was getting ready to pounce………..all I’m saying is they could have chosen a better person to promote inspiration,,,,,,,,I don’t know how you feel but I really don’t want my children looking to Ray Lewis as a role model……..and his motivational results are really not that good,,,,,,,,,,,have a nice day…….
I agree that loudest is best among the media and its various personalities regardless of the arena, sports, politics, etc.
But how do you compare Lewis with Brady in terms of leadership? It’s easier for a Quarterback because the ball is in his hands. He’s also one player and last I checked this was a team game.
Lewis is a no questions asked Hall of Famer once his career is done. There are plenty of other players that were some of the best to play the game and never got to a Super Bowl ONCE. Take Dick Butkus who some would argue is the greatest MLB of all time never even played a playoff game with the Bears. Does that diminish his ability?
Just admit you don’t like Lewis because he talks too much and just leave it at that.
Ol Bruz, the voice of reason, is back.
If we compare the Ravens success to the Orioles failures, of course the Ravens come out on top, but to suggest that the Ravens have set some standard on winning?!!
Winning what, regular season games? Are they now the Philadelphia Eagles of the AFC?
The Ravens have underachieved if you get right down to it, as Ol Bruz has suggested.
Speaking of being “loud,” the perfectionist critics are very vocal here. The Ravens have been a “successful franchise.” One of the most successful in all of sports? No. One of the most successful in the NFL? Debatable. but certainly successful, and Ray Lewis has been credited with being the team’s leader- not just from the outside- but from within. The Ravens have blown plenty of opportunities, but their record is one that MANY other teams are jealous of.
These are the same people who wanted Rex Ryan instead of Harbaugh.
Jury still out on that one, I think we can agree…Both with two Conference Championship Losses…Both have been “successful” by all accounts, but not “especially memorable”…
I did NOT want Ryan, but…
Both he and The Great Harbaugh have been to the same number of AFC championships and Ryan has a much less talented team than do the Ravens.
But…Rex doesn’t have to play the Stillers twice a year…
Ol Bruz,
You’re right, the Jets don’t have to play the Steelers twice a year…
And the Ravens don’t have to play the Patriots twice a year.
Great paintings! This is the kind of information that should be shared across the net. Disgrace on Google for not positioning this submit higher! Come on over and seek advice from my website . Thank you =)
