As if the regular season wasn’t disappointing enough, Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested over the weekend in an Atlantic City casino after a physical altercation with a woman. The Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec reports that Rice and his fiance were charged after what he described as allegations of a ‘very minor physical altercation’.
According to Ravens director of public relations Chad Steele: “We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancee. We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained.”
Michael Diamondstein, a Philadelphia-based attorney, has been hired to represent Rice.
“We haven’t seen any charging documents yet,” Diamondstein said. “There was an argument that included Ray. I can’t give any specifics because we haven’t seen the document yet.”
“Once we’re able to go through the evidence, it should wind up to be little more than a misunderstanding,” Diamondstein said.
Deadspin has a bit more info on the “altercation”:
That may be so; Atlantic City police aren’t returning calls on the matter right now and the casino declined to comment on the incident. According to our tipster, though, word at the Revel early Saturday morning was that a woman—presumably the fiancée—had spit on Rice and that in retaliation, he uppercut her, knocking her completely unconscious.
Ray Rice arrested. Guess he couldn’t outrun the cops either. #Ravens

Of course we’re waiting for more details on this story, but Rice’s strong advocacy against bullying sure would be embarrassing he was in fact involved in a physical altercation with a woman.
Once again proving nothing good happens in Jersey.
