The NFL fines are stacking up for the Ravens. Matt Birk got slapped with a $5,000 fine for removing a microphone that the league requires guards and centers to wear. Ravens running back Ray Rice is lighter in the pocket today after he got fined $7,500 for a stiff arm he delivered in the Rams game. Video of the stiff arm is below, see if you can figure it out.
Assuming Rice isn’t making it up, he got fined for a perfectly legal move by even the NFL’s crazy strict rules. In fact, if anything Rice was tackled illegally as the video shows Bradley Fletcher drawing the penalty for a horse collar tackle on the play.
“hands cannot be thrust forward above the frame to contact an opponent on the neck, face or head”
Actually it’s not a perfectly legal move. The above rule applies to all players, including running backs.
So what you’re saying is that stiff arms are now illegal? Well the refs aren’t calling it gratefully so. F U Roger Goodell.
yep, stiff arms are now an illegal move. pretty stupid if you ask me that was my signature move in high school lol. if anyone should have been fined on this it should be the horse collar not the stiff arm.
