Just a few hours after ESPN 980’s erroneous report that Sean Miller would be named as Gary Williams replacement at Maryland, Eric Bickel of the Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan in DC tweeted that Texas A&M’s Mark Turgeon “is going to be the next coach at MD.”
Bickel wrote on his twitter page Sunday that he believes “it’s done.”
Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle heard similar rumors in an article posted on Sunday night. “A&M program insiders said Sunday night they were aware of the reports but could not confirm or refute Maryland’s interest in Turgeon, or if he had any interest in return,” he wrote.
Hmmm, another “interesting” pick for MD. I guess I expecting a bigger name, but it goes to show you that, like the AL East in baseball, coaches are lining up to do battle in the ACC to try to take down Duke and NC.
