Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com tweets that the Baltimore Orioles are “poking around” for a fifth starter as they “need depth” in their rotation.

With Brian Matusz and Justin Duchscherer on the disabled list, Jeremy Guthrie just being released from the hospital and Zach Britton and Jake Arrieta combining for less than a full season of service time, I’d say Rosenthal’s report makes a lot of sense.

HardballTalk.com’s D.J. Short writes that the names have not been released yet, but that the Orioles could be looking at recently released free agents Carlos Silva and Doug Davis.  The O’s viewed Davis in a bullpen session last month, he’s coming back from elbow surgery after starting in just eight games last season.
