Mike Preston of the Baltimore Sun reported over the weekend that some of the Ravens players had issues with the length of head coach John Harbaugh’s practices during the week leading up to Baltimore’s postseason matchup against the Steelers.
Preston says that some players felt they weren’t given the proper amount of time to rest between games.
As a team, both sides came to an agreement but there were some tense moments with some players even threatening to go the players’ union and the media.
The length of Harbaugh’s practices has been commented on by Ravens players in the past, but never before a game as crucial as a playoff game against Pittsburgh.
This story was also reported on NFL.com. It's typical stuff. When the team should be focusing on the opponent, they are instead focusing on infighting. It all gets brushed under the carpet with this group, just as long as things appear A-OK on the outside.
I'll repeat it again…this team will in the foreseeable future have talent good enough to put them in the top 37.5% of the AFC or the top 6. It's what this staff does with that talent after that which will make the difference.
Turns out this "incident" was the doing of one veteran of has whined quite a bit during his tenure here.
Many players actually spoke out and said it was the exact opposite. Those players included guys who are free agents and have no reason to BS.
The report on NFL.com is just rehashing Preston.
I'm not one to stick up for Johnny Hardballs but this was a nonstory that he tried to manufacture. And let's not pretend he hasn't done that before.
Little by little the leaks are coming out about Harbaugh… You know, those leaks that show a team in disaray and of a former "Special Teams" coach who is in over his head…
Even two star players have been speaking out, Flacco and McClain openly calling out Harbaugh in a round about way.
Where's Ray Lewis speaking out about players should just play the game and such like he did years ago when Billick was here… Have to admit, Ray Ray has been awfully quiet in not standing up for Harbaugh… Years ago Heap, Reed, Ray Ray and such came out in Billicks defense years before he was canned but the veterans are mighty (yes its a pun) quiet…
Btw,how many votes did the great Harbaugh get for "Coach of the Year"? Zero, Zilch, Nada, None,… Hmmmm, but he took this team to 3 straight Playoff appearances in his first 3 years. You all know that because you "Purple Kool Aid" drinkers like to repeat it alot…
