The Ravens 2010 number one draft pick Sergio Kindle was arrested and charged Sunday morning for driving drunk. According to the Baltimore Sun, Kindle was pulled over in Howard County early Sunday morning.
According to court records and police, Kindle was pulled over at 4:09 a.m. after an officer observed his vehicle weaving as he drove northbound on Route 1 near Route 32 in Savage.
The former University of Texas star, who was driving a vehicle with Texas plates, was ticketed for speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to obey traffic control devices.
Kindle was in the news this past week, with quotes about trying to get out on the field for the Ravens. His most recent “set back” continues to raise red flags for the draftee who fractured his skull falling down two flights of stairs just days before training camp began.
I continue to stand by my opinion, that the Ravens will never see Kindle take the field.
UPDATE: Jamison Hensley of The Baltimore Sun tweeted a response from Ravens spokesperson Kevin Byrne on Kindle. “We’ve become aware of the situation and we will address this with Sergio as soon as we can.”
Couple of quotes come to mind:
Cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation – "if that cat had nine lives, he spent em all".
Bob Uecker from Major League: "Strike five"
Nice pick, Oz. Way to do your homework. Dude had issues in college, but I guess Ray was supposed to "get him in line".
This doesn't look good for anyone trying to convince fans that Kindle's accident was just an accident.
Who falls down two flights of stairs, even with his "sleeping disorder"? Don't most homes have a landing between flights of stairs? Didn't he wake up when he fell down the first flight? Cut your losses with this bag of bad news.
How long before the words drugs and solicitation get added to these reports? Rt 1 and Rt 32? Yikes!
If this happens again, I think Kindle should be let go. They still have too much invested in him at the moment.
Sorry to disagree, but I don't believe in 4th chances. Everyone males mistakes and is entitled to a second chance, but this is the 4th instance for this guy who has done nothing but embarrass this team. They took a chance and blew it. Certainly the young man needs help, but a multi million dollar contract would probably just hasten his demise. 2007, 2009, the little stair incident, now this….BTW, there's probably more to this latest story in that Ol Bruz has pointed out that the area is known for drugs and prostitution…I'm sure he just made a wong turn, given his sterling past. See today's Sun… http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-r…
And we all thought Suggs was a goof when the Ravens drafted him…
Yeah, plenty of upscale businesses and Restaurants in that area…
We were all Sergio Kindles age once… It wasn’t that long ago that I was a young punk. Hell, I mean, me and my buddies would get kicked out of some bar and what would we do? We would get a bunch of forties from a homeless guy and go sit in the park and get blitzed. But we never drove a car like Kindle did…
Uh oh! Sergio Kindle and the bottle of booze on Rt 1 and 32… Uh Oh! Can anyone say Candy Samples?
Look, we were all young once and did stupid things but there's a time when you have to realize that too many "stupid things" is risking your life/career…
Even myself, it wasn’t that long ago that I was a young punk. Hell, I mean, me and my buddies would get kicked out of some bar and what would we do? We would get a bunch of forties from a homeless guy and go sit in the park and get blitzed… When I was young I was known in every home and institution throughout Maryland…
