Huge news. The Braves have called up Julio Teheran to pitch tonight. Add him right now and cut anybody at all. Who is Teheran you ask? Why did I make a special article just to report on him? Because he is as good as Strasburg. Write that down. Teheran is the top pitching prospect in all of baseball, has effortless delivery, and amazing control. He does not get as much recognition as Strasburg because he isn’t American, but he is just as good. This year at Triple A he is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA. He is also a high strike out pitcher. I’ve been watching him closely all season waiting for his arrival. It’s hard to tell what the plans with him will be long term since they needed a starter because of a double header, but I see no reason to send him back down once his clock has started. Worst case scenario he goes to the pen until they can trade a starter or one gets injured. Best case scenario is that he performs well enough to bump someone like Beachy to the bullpen. Even if he’s in the pen I would hold on to him if you have room because he’s a season changer and could carry you through your playoffs at the end of the season. If I had to name one rookie to get this year it would have been Teheran. Now lets watch him dominate.

FG…gave up Bud Norris to get this guy. Fortunately, I didn’t have him active for yesterday. Did his first outing scare you off? Should I go get Norris again?
@MGW – The Braves made a pretty bad decision and sent him back to AAA…now his major league clock has begun and they are wasting his big league time in the minors…not yesterday’s outing nor anything would scare me off of him…if anything yesterday’s outing was great for a 20 year old kid against the best offense in the NL…he only gave up 3 runs to that great offense, changed speeds aggressively, and showed great control…this guy is going to be very very good for a long long time…since he isn’t on a big league roster you might has well have norris back for now…but watch him….norris is a monster with his K’s…i would hold on to him and move him ahead of some of your other pitchers on your depth chart
Teheran was picked up a day before the article so I’m hoping that since he got sent back down that he will be dropping him soon!
@Stephen T – Would be good to have him available for later this season. With all the problems Derek Lowe is causing I wouldn’t be surprised if the Braves ship him out especially if they fall out of contention. ATL has a ton of talent, but it looks like they make struggle their first year without Cox. I still think they have the talent to make the playoffs, but the Marlins are also legit and are in their way. The Braves not putting it all together would be a good thing for Teheran owners. Now that his major league clock has already started he will at least be called back up to be in the bullpen if he continues to prove that there is nothing left for him at AAA. Now that he has the confidence of facing big league hitters I look for him to be even better at AAA and be back up shortly. So that they don’t waste another option once he comes up again he stays.
Julio Teheran expected to be recalled on Wednesday. Beachy is injured.
