Pitching is deep. How many times have you heard me say that this year? I could probably draft in a 30 team 40 round draft and still find starters that I want on my team.

Unlike hitters, top tier pitchers always perform, unless they are injured. So I don’t need to explain to you why the top tier guys are ranked where they are. Kershaw is very young, and because of that I feel he can repeat. Kershaw-Hamels are all absolute studs. Strasburg would be higher, but his inning limit really hurts his value. I think Darvish is the real deal. Trust in him to be an immediate ace. He is the greatest Japanese pitcher that we will ever see in our lifetime.
I know what everyone has been waiting for. So let’s get into it. Here are the guys that I have ranked much higher than where they are being drafted. Look for all of these guys late in your draft or in the available player pool. Having these kind of guys at the end of your rotation is a good way to push your team over the top and towards a championship. Some of these late pitchers that you get in the last round could be as good as guys like Gio Gonzalez. Two years ago I had Gio Gonzalez ranked very high, took him in the last round, and he broke out. I did the same with Latos the year before. I also did the same for guys like Verlander, Felix Hernandez, and Lincecum in years past. Pitching is my specialty. Here are your guys:
Justin Masterson, Clay Buchholz, Derek Holland, Henderson Alvarez, Chris Sale, Mike Minor, Julio Teheran, Brian Matusz, Drew Pomeranz, Rick Porcello, Ivan Nova, Kyle Drabek, Juan Nicasio, Wei-Yin Chen, Daniel Bard, Blake Beavan, Hector Noesi, Danny Duffy, Felipe Paulino, Tyler Chatwood, Travis Wood, Jeanmar Gomez, Eric Surkamp. Draft those early guys and watch the late guys.
You can get my thoughts on every player in the league immediately with my fantasy cheat sheet. It uses a unique color coded system that tells you exactly who to draft. If you want to dominate your draft, it’s a must have. If your interested in that you can click here.

Mark, I also just got offered Kinsler/Werth for Sabathia… what do you think about that?
I would also do that if your getting Sabathia. There are hitters available in the bank better than Werth. So he’s a non factor to me. Kinsler for Sabathia is a good deal in my eyes considering how many games Kinsler will miss once he’s injured.
Presumably you meant that you would ONLY do that if you were getting Sabathia.
Kinsler is injury prone and Werth is Werthless.
So u’d trade Kinsler for any pitcher in the top 25? I also have Ackley.
Not any pitcher in the top 25. Depends on who.
Would you trade:
Kinsler, Alexei Ramirez, Heath Bell for Adam Jones & Brandon Morrow?
Sure that seems fair if your getting AJ and Morrow. Alexei isn’t even a factor because he doesn’t do enough to be on a roster. Closers are a dime a dozen so I also dont really care about Bell. To me it’s Kinsler for AJ and Morrow. AJ could put up numbers close to Kinsler’s. His numbers will probably be better because of Kinsler injures. If Kinsler would happen to stay healthy then a K/IP starter like Morrow certainly makes up the difference.
Brian Matusz in the Top 70? Nice April Fool’s Day joke! 🙂
Yup, he’s easily a top 60 guy. He will put up nice numbers like every other high upside young pitcher in the game. He will also come close to being a K/IP which is very valuable. He’s a sleeper and a steal this year.
