Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith began training on Monday after coming back from having sports hernia surgery last month. Smith played with a tear in his groin the entire season, but said that he got used to it.
He started rehabbing and on Monday he told his fans that he “felt good running around,” but was “so out of shape.”
Smith joked about the grief he would receive from Ravens fans in a later tweet, asking for the name of an athlete coming off of surgery in playing shape. “Don’t worry I’ll wait.”
Personally, I’m not worried about Smith. I would be if he tweeted he was out of shape in June, but not on March 12. If he was able to catch 50 balls for 841 yards in his rookie season with a torn groin, I’m sure he’ll be just fine in preparing for an even more successful campaign in 2012.
