I have never been the biggest Dave Trembley fan, but I have to admit that I loved him going off last night after the Birds were swept by Seattle.
From the AP report as seen on ESPN.com
“I’ve been in a position where I’m a really nice fella and I’ll cover. I’ll get questions point blank and I feel like I’m a damn presidential press secretary sometimes instead of telling it what is it. I have to smooth it over,” Trembley said. “I’m not smoothing it over anymore.”
“The whole thing has gone totally different from what we want. It hasn’t been acceptable,” Trembley said. “I’m very patient but I will tell you the truth. I didn’t have anyone come up to me afterward and disagree with what I said.”
“I’m not going to let things continue to slide and say it’s OK. … I’m tired of that,” Trembley said. “I want to see the guys succeed. I’d like to get them back on track so they can enjoy that. You’re going to have to make some sacrifices and play some more as a team and do the things necessary in order for you to win. In order to do that you have to get your priorities straight. The priorities are the team.”
Do we even care to see any emotion out of Dave at this point?
Way too little, way too late. He's a nice guy, but he's gotta go.
So then who would be an ideal fit to manage this team…..
Sounds like a topic for a future article…
Hey speclteamsguru. The future is here. The time is now. The Orioles got a problem. It is called winning games. The manager's job is to win. When he can't he is replaced. If it is not his fault then it is who ever is responsible for recruiting the players. If you consistently lose, those are the people that need to be replaced. They are the ones who make the decisions who the players are. You can not blame the players for a team losing. Maybe for a specific ball game loss, but not consistently loosing.
The solution is obvious. Rebuild starting with management.
T-Bone Shelby is a waiting ! I have never been a true Trembley fan but I don't think firing a manager at this point in the season is an answer. Its not the manager playing these games and i understand he should be the motivator, but these guys need something else. They are playing without confidence right now. Maybe a night out as a team to Scores or the Ritz might help them out a little.
I feel like this years Orioles almost have a "Major League" feel to them.
Agreed. It's getting bad.
It's "getting bad"?
Umm, it's horrible and it's been horrible.
We're not in the stage of "getting" anywhere.
As for Trembley. Welcome to the club Dave!!
We've all been card carrying members for over a decade!
At least Major League provided comic relief…There's nothing funny about this team.
After the game I spotted a particularly angry Adam Jones jawing with someone in the dugout. Not sure who…but who ever it was was getting an ear full.
Probably Tremblin' Trembley…
Trembles: Hey, pal. Do you think next time you could run out that fly ball? Pretty Please, good buddy?
AJ: Who doo you think you're talking to Captain Kirk? I'm an All Star, Gold Glover! @%$&@!!!
Trembles: My mistake.
Sure Trembley is getting emotional. He is on his way out. Nice guy or not he has to be the first to go. If it is not the manager then it has to be the players. If it is the players then it is who ever recruited them. It is time to make some drastic changes. Keeping the status quo for the rest of the season is not the answer.
