Jonathan Schoop is impressing early at Orioles camp in Sarasota. MASNSports.com’s Roch Kubatko reports that Schoop has gone yard twice in the team’s first two intrasquad games.
“Obviously, all the baby fat is gone and it looks like all the growth platelets have closed,” [Buck] Showalter said. “Jon’s in a good place. I think he’s had some very good role models. And as I’ve said before with Jonathan, it’s a matter of when, not if. That’s what we’ll try to judge here. He’s off to a pretty good start here. That’s for sure.”
The 22-year-old went 4-for-14 with a homer in five games with the O’s last season. He hit .256/.301/.396 with Triple-A Norfolk in the International League in 70 games in 2013.
