Maybe you’re tired of my Orioles optimism. If that’s the case, just skip this post and complain about something else on the site.
Ubaldo Jimenez hasn’t lived up to that four-year, $50 million contract that the O’s signed him to this winter. Jimenez is 0-3 with a 7.31 ERA in his first three starts in black and orange after allowing five earned runs on ten hits in 5.1 innings pitched on Sunday.
Not pretty, but it really shouldn’t surprise anyone.
Coming into Sunday’s start, Jimenez posted a career 5.10 ERA in 29 starts in March/April over his career. He had posted a 1.541 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 and 1.36 K/BB over that span.
But don’t worry, O’s fans. It gets better.
In may, Jimenez has posted a 3.89 ERA over 34 starts with a 1.348 WHIP, 7.8 K/9 and 1.91 K/BB. Who else can’t wait for April to be over?

Hey Zach , I almost took your advice but decide to do both to make your day,,,,,,,,,,,,isn’t this the first four year contract for a pitcher from the O’s in many a year ? Well , it looks like they should have stayed with what was working , or was it………………have a great day Zach. I still like your site…………………..
Admittedly, Jimenez’ first 3 starts have been less than stellar, but I’m not ready to jump ship yet. The same crew of clowns always clamoring that they don’t spend money are the same clowns now saying “why did they give him soooo much money.” You can’t win with these idiot fans.
They need to spend the money wisely and not just throw it around , by the way Zach , didn’t this guy get off to a ten and O start a few years back ?
Peole will shape things to fit their vision of the world. Still would have liked to see a better start. 0-3 record and ERA over 7 isn’t providing a warm feeling.
Well , we see your vision isn’t very optimistic…………….
