After a Bud Norris start, followed by a three hour and nine minute rain delay, Orioles skipper Buck Showalter called on Ubaldo Jimenez to save the bullpens. Jimenez did just that giving up one run on four hits, walking only one.
One thing that I found most impressive about Jimenez’s outing was the lone walk, Jimenez continues to lead the AL in that category, with 66. His relief appearance on Saturday could have been labeled as “effectively wild”, when he was up in the count, drawing swinging strikes, and strikeouts. Jimenez struck out five on the day.
Hopefully Jimenez can continue this success in relief and help the club by not putting limiting innings to the core 7-8-9 relievers.
