The Orioles announced on Tuesday night that they would be parting ways with 105.7 The Fan as the flagship station and switching back to WBAL. The rumors surrounding the change have been discussed since the end of last season, but became official this week.
Orioles.com made the announcement Tuesday evening.
The move ends a four-season run with 105.7 The Fan and reunites WBAL and the Orioles for the first time since 2006.
The partnership with WBAL Radio marks the 42nd year since Baltimore returned to the Major Leagues 57 years ago that the station has originated Orioles broadcasts. The station first broadcast O’s games in 1957, which was the club’s fourth season.
Additionally MASN will stop televising 105.7’s afternoon drive show, The Scott Garceau Show, according to a tweet from Jen Royle.
The Orioles will finally have a flagship station that will broadcast the games live unlike 105.7 THE FAN that had most games on 30-second tape delay.
