Who am I to complain about a 4-0 start? Just an idiot fan, but I have to wonder, why haven’t we seen Jake Fox yet?
The dude had an awesome spring. He hit 10 dingers. He is super versatile. I hate to have him get rusty, and in the meantime, the O’s lose on their chance to capitalize on his power.
Am I crazy here?
Jake peaked in March. Wieters is hitting .300 and the pitching staff has been phenomenal. When Scott went down they put in Pie who has played a very nice left field. Where would he play?
1st or 3rd or DH. No reason those guys can’t have a day off once in a while.
No reason those guys can’t have a day off once in a while.
It’s been four games.
I’m with Stacey…four games and OBTW, they’re off today.
I am of the belief that you play with the hottest players. No reason to intentionally let him cool off. hell, the O’s may have missed the window of opportunity.
Think how good their record could be if they had put Fox in!
Jake Fox was never meant to be a starter. You don’t give your starters a break when it’s been 4 games and the team is on fire.
It’s not intentionally letting him cool off, it’s using him the way he’s supposed to be used. He is not a starter. He is a backup. If the regulars are well-rested and the team is performing, you leave the guy on the bench where he belongs.
Jason, as your picture indicates you are a moron. “Never meant to be a starter”? When you can play five positions you certainly have more credabilty than some of the current players who are one trick ponies.
Most of you are wrong…Most teams try to get everyone playing time so players don’t get rusty. Bos has had Darnell McDonald play a game and Jed Lowrie–both backups. Texas has had David Murphy and Andres Blanco play, relieving starters Elvis Andrus and Julio Borbon. The Twins have had Jim Thome in a game—he is backup DH. I could go on and on….especially about all of the backup catchers who have already started at least 1 game….Fox is the back up catcher…it is RIDICULOUS that he hasn’t caught a game.
Fact is Showalter is still pissed that he swung at the 3 and 0 count in spring training and is punishing him. Juvenile.
@Soxfan – The sox fan coming in a stirring up nothing. He’s mad cause the 200 million dollar Sawx are 0-4. There’s nothing juvenile going on at all, it’s four games into the season.
I think that with today’s off day and the fact that none of the starters were doing too horrific-ly (well, Vlad maybe), there was no need for him. DLee makes up for his average by defense. Honestly, he has picked multiple balls out of the dirt and saved Wieters on a horrible pick off in Tampa. Hardy has been the best overall Oriole this year when you put defense into it (yes, Roberts’ bat has been good). Reynolds had that big 2 RBI game. No reason yet to use him. And no way ownership lets him DH with Vlad in town.
