Now nothing is official, but all the signs are pointing to Jake Arrieta heading to Baltimore.
Sign 1- Brad Bergesen was moved to the bullpen by manager Juan Samuel
Sign 2- Jake Arrieta was scratched from his start this evening in Buffalo
It’s been well publicized how well Arrieta has pitched in Norfolk, but it’s been Bergesen and Tillman that have moved up (or back up to in Bergie’s case) to Baltimore. Arrieta has done his job and let everyone know it. The biggest reason why people think he was being held back is because he was the only one of the 3 who was not on the 40-man roster. Now, with the O’s on pace to tie the record for most losses in the season, the front office is doing anything to help get some wins.
Now, no matter how well Arrieta pitches, he will continue to fight an uphill battle with the awful run support this team is providing (See Jeremy Guthrie this evening)
I would ask if you think that Arrieta is going to make a difference, but I already know the answer. So in the meantime enjoy our own Jeff Pilson interview Jake last year at Bowie.
I am so shell shocked by what has taken place this season that bringing up Arietta only makes me nervous. I thought we had a few prospects to build around, but every time they bring one up it seems it’s another disappointment. If Arietta is still tearing things up in Triple A, I can continue to dream things will be OK, someday.
