Last night in game one of the World Series, 2009 Cy Young award winner Tim Lincecum came out of the bullpen to relieve 2002 Cy Young award winner Barry Zito.

So many Cy Young awards.

Tigers starter Justin Verlander won it last year too.

Coincidentally enough, it was the first time that a Cy Young award winner relieved a fellow Cy Young award winner in the World Series since Jim Palmer came in for Mike Flanagan in 1983. Flanny worked four innings in game three and left with the Phillies leading 2-0. Palmer pitched the fifth and sixth and earned the win after the O’s took the lead.

Baltimore won the series in five games, but I’ve got the Giants in six.

That ain’t no guess.
