Interleague play started with a bang in DC as the O’s snapped their 4 game losing streak. Who would’ve thought it would be a Danys Baez infield single that led the Birds to a 2 out rally in the 12th inning?
Certainly not me, but I guess that’s the beauty of interleague baseball.
Rich Hill looked solid in his second start in an Oriole uniform. He pitched 5 2/3rds innings giving up only 3 hits and 2 earned runs with 6 strike outs. Credit the bullpen for holding it together for the O’s late inning rally.
Albers, Johnson, Baez, and Sherrill held the Nationals to just one hit in 6 1/3.
Brian Roberts had a big game. He went 3 for 6 with 2 runs scored. Roberts has 15 multi-hit games and is behind Adam Jones for the lead with 20. Jones also had a 3 hit night and drove in the 2 winning runs in the 12th.
In his 4th major league at bat Baez had an infield single with 2 outs. Roberts followed him up with a ground rule double, then Jones brought them both home.
Nolan Reimold hit his second homerun tonight. He continued a 6 game hit streak in which he’s hitting .391.
So it’s 695 +1, 495 0. Washington still has a game leads interleague play by a game with 10 wins to the O’s 9.
