On Friday night, the Washington Capitals beat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2 in Carolina. During the game, Alex Ovechkin scored his 400th career goal. I wish I could say that he did something insane to score his 400th goal, but it was just an empty net goal towards the end of the game.
I wish Alex Ovechkin could have scored his 400th at home, but I’ll take it. Some fun stats about Ovechkin’s 400th career goal:
- He’s the 89th player to get to 400 goals and the sixth fastest. The five who got to 400 quicker? Wayne Gretzky, Brett Hull, Mike Bossy, Mario Lemieux, and Jari Kurri.
- Alex Ovechkin is only the second player in Washington Capitals history to score 400 goals with the team. The first? Peter Bondra.
