boldinIn a situation still developing, Baltimore Sun’s Aaron Wilson reports that the Baltimore Ravens have traded wide receiver Anquan Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick.

Boldin heads to the team he helped to beat in Super Bowl XLVII, in which he scored a touchdown and had 104 yards receiving.

News over the weekend of Boldin rejecting the Ravens offer of cutting $2 million from his salary surfaced, the Ravens stood to cut Boldin by releasing the veteran wide out with a cap hit of $7.531 this coming season. Instead, they’ll get a 6th round selection from the Niners.

The team will now save $5.5 million on this year’s salary cap as they turn their attention to potential free agents the team has as the free agency period begins tomorrow.

According to NFL Insider, Adam Schefter, the deal is contingent on a physical with Boldin currently in Africa on a relief effort mission.
