I have josh hamilton and furcal who both hit the DL this week. With only one “DL” spot on the fantasy roster, and furcal threatening retirement.. is he even worth holding on to? I really hate dropping a higher end draft pick so quickly, but he was a risky pick to begin with. I just snatched up Asrubal Cabrera to fill the SS role.
Ryan Zimmerman hit the DL for me. I picked up Pablo Sandoval to hold me over, but still feel like I’m missing out. Especially with Brandon Morrow and Zack Greinke already on my DL. Any tips?
So what do you think about the situation for the National’s closing job? I know that everyone keeps saying that Storen will be the future closer, even with the terrible start. Do you think that Burnett can hold the job or are the Nationals to high on Storen’s talent that he will be the closer soon?
@Adam – Asdrubal is a great add and better option than Furcal. Get rid of him. He hasn’t been fully healthy in years.
@Zach Wilt – If Pablo Sandoval was available then that was the add of the year. Even when Zimmerman comes back I’d hold onto Pablo. He’s already showed that he’s bounced back to his 2009 form hitting .357 with 2 HR. Even when Zimmerman comes back I’d make room to keep Pablo. Your not missing out on anything at 3B, both were 3rd round picks last season and have similar value. Pablo will hit 30 points higher in AVG and Zimm will typically hit 5 more HR. Morrow may make a major league start next weekend.
@Stephen T – I have no idea what Riggleman is doing. Storen was drafted to be the closer, has been lights out with a 1.35 ERA, and is much better than Burnett. Eventually Storen will be the closer, but until he is I wouldn’t have him on my roster. Burnett is okay to own until there is a change. He has looked fine in the role and hasn’t come close to blowing any.
Anyone in need of OF help should look at David Murphy for Texas. He is filling in for Josh Hamilton and has put up great numbers in each start. Logan Morrison is very good as well. Both should be owned in standard 12 team leagues. Brandon McCarthy is a good deep starting pitcher add. Anyone pitching in Oakland is valuable, and he is going deep into games which is a very good thing.
Also, how long do you think it will take till the Red Sox start to play Jed Lowrie on a regular basis? I see that he has position elibility at SS and 2B. I pretty much have no one at SS and was wondering if he would be a good pick up or if it is too soon to tell since he hasn’t gotten a ton of playing time.
@Stephen T – I’ve been watching Lowrie myself since SS is so thin. I’m not sure if he will ever be the everyday started unless he really blows up and puts up great numbers. And to be honest, I don’t think he’s that good to really separate himself from Scutaro. A Scutaro injury would make him a good pickup, but he’ never going to be better than mediocre. But mediocre at an awful position is still valuable.
How much can I do on my “on”?
@jam mc – ??? What does that mean?

@Matt – 7754′>@Matt – This is a standard 5X5 12 team league btw
@Matt – Hey Matt, Sorry I was covering the Bryce Harper game all day so this is my first time online today. I’m usually quick to respond. That’s actually not a great list of guys to replace Mauer with. I would say Ramos, but he’s not playing everyday so he’s out. But he is the best talent on that list. Avila is my pick. Although his average will be low so expect that. He has decent power though. Is Carlos Ruiz not available? He will at least get some hits and help with avg while Mauer is out. Your offense is very strong. I would let LaRoche and Sizemore go because they have no fantasy value. The more starting pitchers you have the better and you need more starters. The more starters you have the better your chance of winning Win’ and K’s. Normally I would say that you don’t want closers unless its their job and that I wouldnt have Sale or Storen, BUT Burnett blew a save tonight for the Nats and Thornton has blown many for CWS. Still I would cut one of them, if not both until the job is officially theirs. So cut those couple guys and get a couple more starting pitchers. I’m sure there are a ton available.
I’m in a pretty serious, 12 team money league that uses a head to head format, not roto. Offensive categories are R, HR, RBI, K, total bases, AVG, OPS.
I’ve been offered Curtis Granderson in exchange for Howie Kendrick. I believe Granderson will give me more HR, RBI, but he’ll hurt me in K’s and AVG. I’m always nervous to trade any player Kendrick’s age, at 27-28 he may have a “breakout year”.
We only play 3 OF and 1 utility spot. Currently I have McCutchen, Rasmus, and Berkman in the OF, with Sizemore and Huff on the bench and Hamilton on the DL. My only other 2b eligible player after Kendrick is Beckham.
Should I take the trade, or is it too risky to have all my eggs in the Beckham basket at 2b? Seems like it would be a good trade, except I’m already OF heavy.
@seth – First of all Beckham would be a fine starting 2B. I wouldn’t worry about him at all. Its a tough trade because both of those guys have started uncharacteristically hot and its hard to tell whether these guys will keep up what they are doing. Based on their ceiling I would keep Kendrick. Kendrick has the chance to break out like you said, hit for a high average, and won’t kill you in K’s. He’s already showing some power and we know he has speed. Granderson on the other hand will kill you in K’s and will always hit for a low AVG. His power is more consistent and probably won’t go away like Kendrick’s has the chance of doing, but seeing how you probably got Kendrick out of the bank there is no risk on him. I just see Kendrick being more consistent if he keeps these numbers up. If he does it for another week or two then trade him high for a higher quality player. I think he could get you more than Granderson if he shows consistency.
@The Fantasy God –
Thanks, I appreciate it. I got Kendrick from the free agent pool so he didn’t cost me anything. I think I’ll do what you said and keep him, if he keeps it up for another week or so I’ll try to trade high. Once Hamilton comes back I just can’t see benching McCutchen, Rasmus or Hamilton for Granderson, so no reason to trade for a guy that would stay on my bench when I already have Huff and Sizemore.
Should I trade austin jackson for adam lind?
I have opening for it with carlos lees flexibility on going to the out field.
and liriano and colby lewis or harang?
@yankees suck – Neither Jackson nor Lind is that good. If I had to pick between them I guess I would pick Lind. Jackson will decline from last year’s numbers and Lind should improve upon last year’s numbers. I’d cut Jackson and get someone like David Murphy if he’s available. Maybe Boesch or Raburn too.
Wondering what your thoughts are on my pictures?
Josh Johnson
Ubaldo Jimenez
Hiroki Kuroda
Max Scherzer
Tim Hudson
Jaime Garcia
Brandon Morrow
Jeff Francis
Livan Hernandez
Brian Wilson
Joel Hanrahan
Francisco Rodriguez
@Jeff – Pretty sick. Love the top heavy high K guys Ubaldo/Johnson/Scherzer/Morrow/Jaime. I like Hudson. Not a huge fan of Kuroda, Francis, Livo, but I’d imagine not much more in available. Use a two start strategy and cut Livo.
I need some advice, I currently have C.Jones as my 3B, should I consider getting rid of him for P.Polanco or D.Freese? I am worried about his playing time, but I think that batting third in ATL has value…Freese also should have plenty of RBI opportunities batting in front of Pujols, Berkman, Rasmus, Holliday….What should I do?
@George Ron – I liked Chipper at the beginning and I agree that there is value there in that #3 spot. Don’t forget that the Braves are playing poor offensive baseball right now and that they will start to score at least 2 more runs per game. The concern I have with Chipper is his health. He could barely stay healthy during his prime so I don’t think he will stay healthy this late in his career. Especially since he has so much pressure in the heart of that order. Freese doesn’t seem to stop hitting. Don’t forget though that the Cardinals will soon drop a run or so a game. Most of them are overachieving. Polanco isn’t really an option for me. My gut feeling is to add Freese. If you have a chance to carry both you can platoon Chipper and Freese. If you don’t have the extra spot then I would rather have Freese than Chipper for the longevity of this season.
In a small league of mine, another owner just offered me Matt Holliday and Carl Crawford for Albert Pujols and Jason Heyward. My current OF eligible players are Nelson Cruz, Heyward, Mike Stanton, Jose Tabata, and Alex Gordon. My other 1b are Mark Teixeira and Billy Butler (somebody actually dropped him…). I posted that I wanted to trade either Pujols or Tex for a 1v1 trade, since it seemed like a waste to not be able to use Butler, and that trade offer is what I got. Tobata is the biggest base stealing threat I have, after that it’s Pujols, Heyward, Cruz and Castro as 10-15 steal guys, then no other speed at all.
What do you think? I’d probably lose HR and RBI in the deal, but would obviously gain speed, and maybe runs as well.
@byron – I would not. Of your 3 1B’s I would certainly keep Pujols and try t deal one of the other two. I wouldn’t want to lose Heyward either. I like Heyward better than Holliday. I think Cruz will steal more bases than you think as well. If you want speed you should be able to deal Butler for a high speed guy. Pujols/Teix is an amazing 1B combo and I wouldn’t want to break that up. You were lucky to add Butler, now sell high for what you need because he certainly has trade value. You have an amezing outfield by the way and I don’t think your going to have any problems. If you want speed offer Butler for Ellsbury.
I have Zach Britton BAL, and Fausto Carmona CLE, should i drop either one to get Josh Tomlin CLE?
Here’s my Batters, do you have any thoughts or suggestion? Was thinking about looking to replace Bloomquist and Trumbo.
C Avila (Mauer DL)
1B Texeria
2B Walker (Utley DL)
3B Bloomquist
SS Tulowitzki
OF Upton
OF Upton
OF Quentin
Util Zobrist
Util Trumbo
@Jack – I would not. The Indians are overachieving, and Tomlin is overachieving. If he was getting good K’s I would say take a chance on him, but he isn’t. I certainly would keep Britton. Carmona is the lesser of the two, and is inconsistent, but when he’s on he’s great. He is higher than Tomlin in the rotation for a reason. Masterson is the real deal on that team, Carmona is good, and I really like Carrasco (but he may be badly hurt). I’m not that high on the rest of their rotation long term.
@Jeff – I like it. Once Mauer comes back your really good. Once Utley comes back your great. Bloomquist was obviously overachieving early, but its okay to get those guys and ride them until its over. And right now its over. Plus he’s on the DL. I would dump him. I see no reason in having Trumbo either. Morales isn’t too far from returning. I’m not that high on BJ Upton and Zobrist as well. Who is available to pick up? You can move Walker to 3rd and Zobrist to 2nd so you don’t need a specific position.
britton and morneau for haren…. fair?
britton and morneau for haren…. fair? rate my quote yes or no< everyone…. i only got 2 days left on this trade proposal. ill take advice wherever i can.
@bobee – That’s a tough one. I’m going to say no because I feel that Morneau is about to start hitting the way you thought he would have when you drafted him. He had a bad flu, now he’s healthy and 4/8 since the return. He’s about to hit a hot streak. Haren is good though. Not quite as good as he is pitching right now though. He will come down a little, but is still solid. Britton should stay solid too.
thanks fantasy god!
is my pitching staff overated? honestly? c.lee, u. jimenez, t. cahill, z. britton, j. masterson, j. tomlin, b.mcarthy, k. farnsworth, s. santos (CWS), b.chen, a. baily?
@bobee – If your in a 12 team league its good. If your in a 10 team league its a little weak. Chen and Tomlin will need upgraded eventually. All your other starts especially Masterson and McCarthy, I think are the real deals and here to stay. But if you want to sell them high I wouldn’t blame you. You could probably put a couple of those solid starters together and trade them for another ace like a Verlander and then add more starters out of the bank who will eventually be just as solid. Trading up on pitching throughout the year is a good way to have an entire staff of aces eventually.
im in a 20 team league on espn fantasy baseball… this my first year…. ive been doing fantasy football a couple years and won my league this year.. decided to give this a try.
what 2 would you put together for haren, or weaver?
@bobee – If thats a draft with 20 teams then that is a very good pitching staff. Off a combo of 3 pitchers for Weaver. Something like Masterson, McCarthy, and Britton or Tomlin for him. Maybe Cahill instead of McCarthy if that doesn’t work.
i picked up masterson, britton, mcarthy, tomlin and farnsworth in free agency. the only ones i drafted were lee, jimenez, cahill and bailey. im still playing around with 2 spots. always serching the wire.
i just traded masterson and tomlin for haren…. for picking them out of free agency< i did alright?
@bobee – Yes. Great job. That’s how you build a championship team, by trading up. I think Masterson will be good all year, but you sold high on a fluking Tomlin which was great. Haren is actually a sell high right now too. If you can get a better pitcher who is struggling like Kershaw I’d do it.
bastardo, darren oliver, eduardo sanchez. which one should i pick up
@MD – If your looking for someone to get saves I’d get Mitchell Boggs. He is 3/4 as the Cards closer. Second I would get Vicente Padilla. He will be closing while Broxton is out. Third I’d go Oliver, because he will get consistent save chances while Feliz is out. The other two you listed are not closers.
My starting rotation is as follows.
Yovani Gallardo
Derek Lowe
Madison Bumgarner (hot off the WW)
Josh Tomlin
Matt Harrison
Brandon McCarthy
Bartolo Colon
Bud Norris
I no doubt need an Ace. So i’ve got a trade offer on the table of Zack Greinke for Ryan Zimmerman. When Zimm went down i traded J-Roll and Broxton for Martin Prado (along with Bautista, i’ve got two must start 3B eligible guys). My gut says to hold off, as it looks like I could be getting this…182/605, 95 runs, 30 HR, 95 RBI, 4 SB, .301, .889…back as early as next week. Greinke just doesn’t feel like enough to part ways with Zimm, even if my rotation is a bit underwhelming (even before factoring in Gallardo’s awful start) Anyway, what do you think?
@Collin – Your right. Zimmerman was a high second round pick for a reason. Greinke to this point is a one hit wonder and is too risky…i would only deal Prado for him. Hold on to Zimm. Bumgarner was a great pickup for your staff and he proved it in his last start. Im worried because I know Tomlin/Harrison/Colon will blow up and be cut by you eventually. But if you keep picking up guys the way you picked them up you should be fine. I would try to acquire an ace if you can though. Put a couple of those guys together like McCarthy/Harrison/Tomlin and see if you can get an ace. Someone should give you one for those 3 guys who are producing.
hey buddy…. hate to bothe r you again… but i want to try to trade tori hunter for a ss….. any suggestion?… i dont know who i would be able to get and i dont want to get burned… thanks!
@bobee – Never bothering me. Comments always welcome. Hunter has lost a lot of value and I’m not really sure you could swing him for a decent SS. I would consider cutting him if you can’t. If you can get Drew or Castro I would in a heartbeat, but I doubt it. Elvis Andrus should give you around the same average, but steal more bases, so he is a possibility. Alexei Ramirez is another possibility. I hate to advise getting Jeter, but he’ been much better this week and maybe you can buy him low and see if he can return to form a little bit. For a guy I’m telling you that you might want to cut Jeter would be low risk high reward if he can up his average to .280 with 10 HR and 10 SB.
After nixing the Greinke deal, my potential trade partner wouldn’t do Zimmerman for King Felix straight up and instead went with Longoria and Kimbrel for Felix and Zobrist (hours before a 2HR, 10RBI day). I’ve shifted my attention to offering Brian Mcann, Josh Tomlin and Matt Harrison for J.P. Arrencibia and Dan Haren (He drafted heavy pitching and has CC and Ubaldo as well, with a bit of lackluster lineup)I’ve kept an eye on Hank Conger as well and feel as though I can re-piece together Mcann’s production. Any word from around the net on the value of Justin Morneau? I drafted him and have since added Justin Smoak to make up for Morneau’s underwhelming start. I’d love to trade him but is anybody optomistic about any kind of a return to form?
what about alex gonzalez out of atlanta…… would that be fair?
@Collin – No to trading Longoria. I’m not sure I like the McCann deal because I think all of the pitchers involved are overachieving a little. Haren is by far the best though. Watch for Wilson Ramos before Conger. Ramos is probably catching 5 days now and should be added. He’s better than Arencibia. Morneau is about about to heat up and he’s a guy I would try to buy low on right now. He missed a lot of time and I understand his slow start, but a former MVP like him isn’t going to just stop hitting. I’m not sure I’d sell him low.
@The Fantasy God – Eh I wouldn’t want him. He had a fluke season last year and is already hitting .229. I don’t expect much at all from him. Maybe a little power. I would rather have all the other guys I mentioned before.
someone just dumped jose contreras in my leauge…. his player card says he’ll be out 7-8 weeks…. im in a very deep leauge…..would it be wrong to want to pick him up and then dl him? should i wait till hes almost healthy?… he has some value…. right?
@bobee – I’d imagine that Lidge will be back before then and Contreras’ days off closing are over. If your hurting that bad for saves then just punt the category if you in a head to head league and try to win all the starting categories by having more starters than anyone else….but i’m sure there are deep closing options available….is rauch there? padilla or kuo could be closing soon if broxton continues to struggle…there will be more closer changes as the season goes on if you don’t want to punt
im not so much hurting…. im always looking for players to flip fpr upgrades… like angel pagen is a fa…. so is randy wells. i just am a little ignorant when it comes to value… i try base it on a cobination of batting avr. and percent owned…. is that wrong?
@bobee – I would use your gut instead. When Pagan is healthy he is solid, you know that. So add him when you feel necessary. I definitely wouldn’t care about % owned.
PABLO SANDOVAL INJURED…EXPECT A NEW BLOG IN MINUTES
I just picked up Pablo and put him on my DL hoping that he will come back swinging like he always has. Is this a good move? Also my leagues scoring system is strange and you get points for certain things such as Ks, wins, saves, era, etc. My pitching has been my downfall for my hitters are doing well. Heres my rotation, any suggestions?
SP Clayton Kershaw
SP Ubaldo Jimenez
RP Heath Bell
RP Jonathan Broxton

SP Justin Masterson
SP Jair Jurrjens
Bench Roy Oswalt
Oswalts benched temporarily since he is helping with his family after the storms, not sure exactly when he will be back.
should i start to worry about ubaldo jimenez?
@jar – Why was Pablo even available to pick up? That was an amazing move. He is highly motivated to get back quickly, and once he is back he will be highly motivated to kill the ball. Oswalt should only miss one more start. Not sure why your pitching isn’t doing well, it looks pretty good. I know Ubaldo and Kershaw have struggled a little so far, but they will be okay long term. Really like all your starters. Lohse should decline over time, and his outing tonight wasn’t too good. If there is a good closer like Walden out there I’d get him instead of having Broxton. He has probably been your biggest problem. I think he will lose weight and pitch better soon though.
@bobee – A little actually. He’s struggled since July of last year. No idea what is wrong with him. He has to figure it out eventually though because he has too much talent. His bad second half and failure to reach 20 games last year slid him down my draft board and I didn’t touch him this season. Its hard to tell you to sell low on a cy young candidate last year, but if you can swing him for someone close to his value I would. If you can’t just ride it until he gets better. You invested a whole lot into him though so you have to deal with it, and could never cut him.
What’s the deal with Howie Kendrick? Is he just off to a hot start with power numbers that are unsustainable, or are we looking at a legit breakout campaign?
I’m an engineer in my day job, so I love the advanced sabermetrics and all that stuff that baseball has to offer. I especially like those stats that predict if a “breakout” is a fluke/lucky or legit. With Kendrick though it seems his BABIP and LD% are all in line with career marks. He’s actualy hitting a lesser percentage of fly balls as his GB/FB ratio is up, and he’s striking out more frequently. If I saw just those numbers I’d predict a lower power output this year and a much lower .ISO but as you know those numbers are actually way up, heck he’s more than halfway to his career high in HR already. The only logical conclusion I can come up with is that the guy is actually swinging for the fences now (and connecting relatively often), whereas he used to never do that and was strictly a gap hitter.
So, is it a fluke or is this going to be his breakout year? Will he keep up this pace or maybe only end with marginal improvements?
What do you think of getting Rickie Weeks and Morneau for Howie Kendrick and Colby Rasmus? I’m a Weeks fan, and I think his current numbers are pretty sustainable (with maybe a slight drop off) if he stays healthy, whereas I’m pretty sure Kendrick’s power numbers aren’t sustainable. Though they’re at different positions, I think Rasmus and Morneau are nearly equal in overall fantasy value. Rasmus does afterall hit in front of Pujols, Holliday and Berkman. I currently have waaay too many OF, so I have to unload somebody. Franceour, Rasmus, Berkman, McCutchen, Grady Sizemore, Bourn and Hamilton is on the DL. I’m forced to bench 3 of these guys everyday, it seems like a huge waste.
if i offerd carlos lee and ubaldo jimenez for for matt kemp…. would that be stupid? carlos lee has been killing me, and ubaldos turning into a cancer on my pitching staff…. would be able to get anything for them? someone has matt kemp pn the trading block, he’s hurting for pitching… hes the one i pried dan haren from with masterson and tomlin. i dont want to make an offer hes gonna scoff at it…. what would you do if some one came up and offer lee and jimenez for kemp?
you taking cicno de mayo off, fantasy god? gods dont do that…. just hope your not to hung over to write back….. buenos notches!
@Seth – You said everything right about Kendrick. And the fact that he is already half way to everything and it’s only May tells you that he is gonna come down big time on the power. I think the average is legit, because he was always projected to be a high average guy. And since he’s already come down once and slumped and then brought the average right back up when the slump ended I think the hitting is here to stay. I’m just not sold on his power. The deal you mentioned is tough. Weeks’ power is legit and I’m now a believer in him. I still don’t trust his injury history though. I still value him more than Kendrick. I value Rasmus more than Morneau actually. I also think Rasmus is your 2nd best OF. I don’t like Hamilton because he never stays healthy, Berkman won’t do what he’s doing for a full 6 months, Sizemore and Bourn’s health concerns me, and Francoeur will be under mediocre soon. I do like McCutchen a lot though as your #1. That trade is 100% even to me. Not sure who your 1B is, but if you need a 1B more than an OF then I say do it.
@bobee – Haha i was at Bowie BaySox vs. Harrisburg Senators getting video and talking to players which took up most of the day. If he takes the Kemp deal then your very lucky. I would certainly do it. Carlos Lee will continue to kill you in average, even though he is a slow starter. Ubaldo will get better, but Kemp is elite. He was being drafted #3 overall for a reason last year and he may end up in the top 3 at the end of this season. Get him if you can.
@The Fantasy God –
Thanks, the deal was accepted this morning. I actually have Ryan Howard at 1b, so I’m not just dying for another 1b, but with 7 OF’s I just had to unload somebody. I’m sure Rasmus will score 100+ runs this year and wind up one of the better OF’s in the fake game, but my thinking is that if Hamilton gets healthy (yea right) I can try to play the matchups with Franceour, Sizemore, Bourn and Berkman in that 3rd spot and the overall production could be pretty decent. Or maybe if Morneau gets really hot eventually I could trade him for an upgrade elsewhere. I appreciate the input, I’m with you that this trade seems about as even as you’ll find in fantasy baseball.

@Jack – I’ve always liked Aviles a lot so I say him. He is more consistent. Damon has been putting up good numbers, but he is streaky and will hurt your average overall…aviles is overachieving with power right now, but he should hit for average
@Jack – Really like your pitching a lot…I bet your not having any trouble with pitching and you are with offense a little right? So your fine at Catcher, Third, and SS…not a fan of the outfield…i like Choo, but all of the other guys are about the same…they all hit for minimal power, steal a mediocre amount of bases, and don’t quite hit for average…i’d look to trade some of that OF depth for some better starters…not really sold on hafner either…i think you need some more power for sure…and morneau needs to start hitting…maybe hosmer won’t experience too many growing pains and can help you at 1B…ryan roberts was good to ride high but he’s about done and you’ll need a replacement at 3b…your pitching is very very good though, but maybe you should deal one of those starters for some help at 3B and/or OF…maybe combine some of those guys with a starter…your pitching will still be very good even if you lose a guy…and your pitching should keep you competitive…once you fix up the offense to go with that pitching your ready to compete for a championship
So I have a team in a H2H points matchup league, no categories just points…pretty standard points distribution I believe but I may be mistaken. The problem is that it seems like the points are unfairly biased towards starting pitchers: 10 pts win vs 5 pts save, 3 pts per inning pitched, etc. I feel like I have a pretty good team, but me and everyone else keep getting crushed by this guy who dropped all but 4 of his hitters and all of his closers and has like a gazillion starting pitchers. So everyday he rolls out 4 or 5 starters and by the end of the week is beating you by 150 to 200 points. Please tell me he is just getting lucky and his strategy will backfire eventually. I have nothing against leaving one or two roster slots open for streaming starting pitchers, but he has like 55 pitchers and its out of control. Thanks fantasy deity
@Henderson – You need to do the same. I don’t like leagues that do not have move limits for this reason. Especially if its points I’d be picking up and dropping every single day. Your league needs a move cap for next season so that he only gets 30 moves or so for the entire season. If you want to win now you have to play catchup and do the same.
I agree that my outfields not that good, but part of thats because I lost Josh Hamilton and thats why I picked up Ryan Roberts. I dropped Damon and picked up Aviles before you responded and moved Roberts to the outfield. I could probably trade a 2 for 1 deal for more quality but the point of this reply is that my outfield is like that because I lost Hamilton.
@Jack – I’m not a big Josh Hamilton fan though because he’s hardly ever playing for you. He’s the definition of injury prone. A healthy Hamilton/Choo/a healthy Sizemore isn’t bad…but thats a lot of IF and risk…and i just don’t like victorino…hunter may be cutable…you have a good core so making a trade could make you great
thanks
iam from california and watch a lot of athletics game… there my team….. i havent got to watch any baltimore games…. so seeing that you seem to be located in the baltimore area.. i imagine your o’s fan…. so i need your honest opinion on jj harding…. is he worth picking up now thats hes healthy?… you have seen enough of him to know… right?
@bobee – I have seen him enough and he is not a good pickup. He’s only going to hit .260, hit about 7 hr and steal maybe 2 bases all year. I know SS is very thin, but there are still better options out there than him.
I am being offered Roy Halladay for Pujols and Ubaldo Jimenez? I am in first place in a 10 team H2H league. My pitching is struggling, however I don’t want to lose too much batting. Should I ask him to throw in Josh Hamilton? I wanted Matt Holliday, however they did not like that.
@YARKS – He is ripping you off big time. I would not trade Pujols. I especially would not sell him low. Your selling him at a lower value based on his under-Pujols-par performance. He will still hit over .300 and fight for the MVP award as usual and if your going to deal him you have to deal him for that value. I don’t ever see Roy Halladay getting picked #1 overall in fantasy. And furthermore your selling Ubaldo low. Its a long season and Ubaldo has to put it together eventually. You invested high picks into both of these guys and you have to bank on the fact that they will improve and help you deep into the season and give you the best chance at winning your championship. I would also want no part of Mr. Injury Josh Hamilton. Stay far away from this deal. Pitching is much easier to improve than offense. Do you use a 2 start strategy? That always gives the pitching advantage. Who are your pitchers and who are available to add? Stay far away from this deal.
iam not buying ubaldo any more…. i got stellarpitching with the rest of my staff….. iam trying to trade him and rayburn for mike aviles…… i picked up hosmer in my leauge and iam trying to get some life into my batters…. is jimenez and rayburn enough for aviles and should i, if the situation were to arise… deal hosmer? whats he really worth?.. do you think he’s the real deal? i left the my club house website… take a peak… give me your thoughts. thanks fantasy god!
@bobee – There is no way I would deal even Ubaldo for Mike Aviles. For Ubaldo I would have Aviles, and a solid pitcher, I definitely wouldn’t be the one giving up multiple guys. Ubaldo is far too good to do that, and its only May. By July he will still be a top of the rotation ace and dealing him for a guy who will barely hit .300 with low power and speed will kill your team. Hang on to him. If you really want Aviles trade Rayburn and a low end starter. Raburn and Aviles both have minimum value. Hosmer wont play this good always. He will hit plenty of growing pains like every other rookie does. I do think he is the real deal though and capable of good enough fantasy numbers for this season. He’s great backup 1B/utility guy going forward. Making him your primary 1B would be risky and could leave your team weak.
who would you start today in the utilty spot….. hosmer vs. verlander… or….. rayburn vs. hochevar?
nevermind…. rayburns not in todays line up.
