Though action has been limited for Brandon McKinney the five year defensive tackle looks to provide some pressure on offensive lines this season after returning from a back injury that placed him on injured reserve in December of last season.
2009: Prior to landing on IR, McKinney recorded three tackles from scrimmage, including one in Baltimore’s 20-17 overtime victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 29th. His other tackles from scrimmage were posted during the Ravens’ battle against Brett Favre and the Vikings in week six. McKinney also provided the Ravens with special teams play in week three against the Cleveland Browns.
2008: McKinney played a crucial role in Baltimore’s 2nd overall ranked defense in 2008. He appeared in 11 games posting 19 tackles, 12 of which were solo. He also showed up in all three of Baltimore’s playoff games, posting three tackles, two solo.
This season the Ravens will need McKinney to provide depth at defense tackle and stuff offensive lines. His pressure can force bad decisions by opposing quarterbacks or just keep running backs from gaining yards through the middle of Baltimore’s bruising defensive line.
