The Ravens lost their backup running back because of a text message from Bill Parcells.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Ricky Williams received a text message from Parcells after the Ravens season ended that read, “How you doing? I’m just checking up on you.”

“I had a great year,” Williams wrote back.  “Body felt good. When I got to play, had a blast. Can’t wait till next year.”

“That’s good,” Parcells responded, “Don’t chase this thing too long. You can contribute in other ways.”  And that was it.

Yesterday Williams made his official announcement that he was done with football.  When asked if there’s a chance that he would return he responded, “The thing I’ve learned about myself is, who the hell knows?”

I guess it all depends on any messages the Tuna sends between now and August.
