The first place Baltimore Orioles defeated the New York Yankees in thrilling fashion last night, 5-3 behind Adam Jones’ late heroics – a three run blast in the 8th inning, landing in the Orioles bullpen to push the Birds eight, count em’, EIGHT games ahead of the New Yorkers in the A.L. East.

The O’s were also helped by the Seattle Mariners out on the West Coast late last night, defeating the Toronto Blue Jays, 2-0. The Jays are now 7.5 back of Baltimore for first place in the division.

A much deserved day off for the O’s and the stretch run resumes Friday night in Cleveland against the Indians. The Orioles will send Wei-Yin Chen to the mound (12-4, 3.90) facing off against the ace of the Indians staff, Corey Kluber (13-6, 2.46).

O’s second baseman Jonathan Schoop hit the game-tying HR last night off Yankees reliever Dellin Betances, this is how good he’s been against New York this season.
