Two games in our nation’s capital and two nail biting pitcher’s duels.

Koji Uehara exited the game early, he appeared to be gassed after just 3 innings of work, it was reportedly a hamstring issue. I know it’s getting a little hot, but it’s only going to get more humid here in Charm City. Hopefully Uehara can handle the heat, literally.

But it was the bullpen led by Brian Bass, yet again, that kept the O’s in the game. Bass, Matt Albers, Jim Johnson, and George Sherrill combined for 6 innings and gave up only 1 run.

The Orioles only had 3 base hits in the game. Nick Markakis put the O’s on the board in the 3rd with a bases loaded infield RBI single. After Guzman tied the game at 1 with a solo homerun, Aubrey Huff came up for a pinch hit RBI triple in the 7th. 2-1 Birds.

George Sherrill came in to save his second straight game, 9th on the year. Sherrill secured a series win when he sat down the National’s 6, 7, and 8 batters, Flat Breezy struck out the side folks.
