Let’s take a look at the Orioles Minor League Farm System for the Week of July 23, 2013
OF Henry Urrutia – .367/.406/.467, 4 doubles, triple, 6 RBI, 60 AB – Henry hasn’t slowed down, getting called up to Baltimore following the all-star break. He’ll be the DH against RHP and he already has a three hit game under his belt.
1B Alex Liddi – .267/.340/.489, 2 doubles, triple, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 2 SB, 45 AB – Acquired from Seattle, the 24 year old has put up solid numbers throughout his minor league career but it hasn’t translated to the majors as of yet. Nice pick up for depth with upside.
OF LJ Hoes – .312/.406/.414, 25 doubles, triple, 3 HR, 40 RBI, 6 SB, 353 AB
OF Jason Pridie – .284/.341/.474, 21 doubles, 3 triples, 12 HR, 44 RBI, 5 SB, 331 AB
RHP Josh Stinson – 5-4, 4.05 ERA, 100 IP, 67 K, 40 BB
RHP Jair Jurrjens – 6-6, 4.18 ERA, 94.2 IP, 52 K, 24 BB – Jurrjens was only able to make one start for the Orioles before being DFA’d.
LHP Zach Britton – 3-3, 4.41 ERA, 67.1 IP, 48 K, 30 BB
RHP Kevin Gausman – 0-1, 6.75 ERA, 13.1 IP, 14 K, 3 BB
LHP Mike Belfiore – 1-1, 3.91 ERA, 50.2 IP, 55 K, 19 BB
RHP Jairo Ascencio – 4-0, 2.15 ERA, 20 SV, 37.2 IP, 41 K, 7 BB – Ascencio is currently with the O’s but he should be back in Norfolk soon with the acquisition of Francisco Rodriguez.
RHP Tim Alderson – 3-2, 3.55 ERA, 45.2 IP, 42 K, 11 BB – The Orioles traded Russ Canzler for Alderson, a former first round pick. Converted to relief he has been very effective despite two rough outings to start his tenure with Norfolk. Solid trade considering Canzler wasn’t going to give the O’s anything.
AA Bowie
C Caleb Joseph – .290/.340/.492, 23 doubles, triple, 16 HR, 73 RBI, 2 SB, 362 AB
SS Niuman Romero – .303/.400/.406, 17 doubles, triple, 2 HR, 32 RBI, 6 SB, 244 AB
3B Tyler Kelly – .283./389/.382, 21 doubles, 2 triples, HR, 47 RBI, 4 SB, 283 AB – Kelly was traded to Seattle for OF Eric Thames. He still has a chance to fill a ML role but it would’ve been hard for him to crack O’s infield.
1B Aaron Baker – .251/.333/.400, 13 doubles, 2 triples, 5 HR, 21 RBI, SB, 215 AB
RHP Mike Wright – 8-2, 3.61 ERA, 102.1 IP, 91 K, 32 BB
RHP Eddie Gamboa – 4-6, 3.64 ERA, 99 IP, 79 K, 31 BB – Gamboa was recently promoted to AAA Norfolk where he has a 7.20 ERA over two starts covering 10 innings.
LHP Chris Petrini – 3-4, 2.81 ERA, 48 IP, 44 K, 28 BB
RHP Tim Bascom – 2-2, 2.11 ERA, 42.2 IP, 34 K, 18 BB
LHP Eduardo Rodriguez – 0-2, 5.06 ERA, 16 IP, 19 K, 10 BB – Rodriguez had a rough first outing at AA but has settled down and had another solid start tonight (7/23). Its a big jump but he appears to be handling it ok.
RHP Oliver Drake – 2-0, 2.00 ERA, 4 SV, 18 IP, 23 K, 6 BB
A+ Frederick
3B Nick Delmonico – .244/.351/.471, 12 doubles, 13 HR, 30 RBI, 5 SB, 225 AB – Just traded to Milwaukee for Francisco Rodriguez. It was a win now move to trade a top 10 prospect for a few months of a reliever. I don’t think I would’ve pulled the trigger but at the same time I feel like Delmonico is in between not having the defense for third base but not quite having the bat for first base. I would say if the O’s make a deep run in the playoffs then it was worth it, if not, I’m not so sure.
C Michael Ohlman – .309/.409/.558, 14 doubles, 4 triples, 12 HR, 41 RBI, 3 SB, 233 AB
1B Christian Walker – .288/.343/.479, 17 doubles, 8 HR, 35 RBI, 2 SB, 215 AB

LHP Tim Berry – 8-6, 4.00 ERA, 105.2 IP, 91 K, 27 BB
RHP Zach Davies – 5-3, 3.28 ERA, 104.1 IP, 86 K, 26 BB
LHP Trent Howard – 3-0, 1.91 ERA, SV, 56.2 IP, 49 K, 17 BBLHP Zach Fowler – 3-4, 2.26 ERA, 2 SV, 51.2 IP, 39 K, 19 BB

GCL Orioles
SS Jonathon Schoop – .360/.469/.800, 2 doubles, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 25 AB – Successful rehab for Schoop so far. On to Aberdeen before returning to Norfolk.
C Chance Sisco – .382/.463/.412, double, 6 RBI, 34 AB
SS Justin Viele – .308/.455/.385, 3 doubles, HR, 7 RBI, 7 SB, 78 AB
OF Josh Hart – .250/.357/.283, 2 doubles, 7 RBI, 9 SB, 60 AB – Hart was the Orioles second pick in this years draft, nice to see him get in some games and show off his speed.
Wondering out loud how some of these O’s minor leaguers (who BTW will probably never crack the O’s 25) would have looked in the trade for Garza?! MGW, I know, we are building for the future..any way the future is now. Lets see, Garza goes seven plus gives up one in his Ranger debut with a W. Garza 1 and O’s zero in my opinion. Hey BSR stat team, how about we track Garza’s starts for the balance of this year and dream about what might have been for O’s?
