Orioles Should Look To Bring Back Matt Lindstrom

I’ve been an advocate of the Baltimore Orioles attempting to reassemble their 2012 bullpen in 2013. It was without question the strongest part of their team.

Today, they picked up Luis Ayala’s $1 million club option. A no brainer.

While they was bringing back Ayala, the Diamondbacks declined Matt Lindstrom’s $4 million club option for next season. Lindstrom, a righty relief pitcher, was dealt to Arizona for Joe Saunders on August 26. The Birds acquired him from Colorado along with Jason Hammel when they traded Jeremy Guthrie.

Now the O’s could bring him back after just a two month rental in Arizona.

He battled injuries for in Baltimore, but posted a nice 2.68 ERA and a 2.85 K/BB ratio over 47 innings pitched. It might take a multi-year deal to bring the 32 year old back, but if this price is right it would definitely be worth it.
