It was a pitcher’s duel in the windy city tonight as Jeremy Guturie dueled with Baltimore native Gavin Floyd.
Brian Roberts put the O’s on the board in the third inning with a solo homer to right field. B-Rob would later hit the go ahead homerun with the game tied at one, it was a two run shot in the 8th inning.
Roberts has homered in five of his last six games, has 14 on the year, and eight RBI in his last three games. His second homer was the shot that took Gavin Floyd out of the game after 7.1 innings of work.
Nick Markakis added to the Orioles’ lead with an RBI triple that drove in Adam Jones.
Ty Wigginton did the same with a pinch hit RBI single that put Markakis across for the four run eighth inning.
Floyd would be charged with four earned runs and the loss.
Jeremy Guthrie got the win in his seven inning, six hit, one earned run effort. He’s now 8-12 on the year.
The Orioles have now won six games in August and ten since the All Star break. Their looking to start a little streak as they’ve won their last two games.
