Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated tweeted yesterday that the Orioles are still in talks with free agent relief pitcher Kevin Gregg.
D.J. Short of HardballTalk chimed in on the addition of Gregg to the Orioles bullpen.
Gregg, 32, posted a 3.51 ERA along with a career-high 37 saves with the Blue Jays this past season, but he also averaged 4.58 BB/9 and has a 4.03 ERA for his career. Racking up saves will get you paid (see: Fernando Rodney with the Angels last offseason), but Gregg is obviously far from elite as far as closers go.
Do you think Gregg would be a good addition for the O’s?
The Os need bullpen help…get him.
KG HAS averaged 30+ Saves in the Big Leagues over the past four years…While he's no Rafael Soriano, he's better than Jackie Sherrill! And here in Baltimore, that's what we get. Right, Sheila? 🙂
Sounds like another Mike Gonzalez, Baez, Hawkins or Charlton signing….
If this team wants to contend, they need to step up. Stop trying to pick up these stop-gap players.
