The Orioles have expressed interest in Phillies OF Juan PierreAs the Baltimore Orioles attempt the impossible and look to replace Nick Markakis, many have suggested Phillies outfielder Juan Pierre as an option.

The speedy 35-year-old has hit .304 and swiped 34 bases while totaling 20 walks and 21 strikeouts this season. Of course, his services could only be used by the Orioles for the remainder of the regular season, but just getting to the postseason would be huge for this organization anyway.

CBSSports.com’s Danny Knobler suggested Pierre, but points out that the Phillies “aren’t yet jumping at the chance to trade him.”

Shockingly, Philadelphia, who was 13 games below .500 and 14 games out of first place in the NL East at the All-Star break, now finds themselves 2.5 games back in the Wild Card race. They’re 8-2 in their last 10 and their top three starters, Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay and Cole Hamels, make for the perfect postseason rotation.
