It’s a 6 game losing streak for the Orioles.
You know the saying “clicking on all cylinders,” that’s been exactly what the O’s have not been doing this past week.
On a day that Jeremy Guthrie pitched a complete game and surrendered only 4 earned runs, the top 3rd of the order went a combined 1 for 16. Nick Markakis had the only hit and Adam Jones’ 9 game hit streak came to a close.
Guthrie gave up two early, but Luke Scott fired back with a a 2 run homerun in the second inning. The O’s tied the game at 3 when Nick Markakis reached on an infield single in the 5th that scored Cesar Izturis.
But then Alex Rios hit a solo shot and that was all she wrote.
Aubrey Huff slammed his bat down after being called out on strikes in the 5th. Manager Dave Trembley came in to keep Huff in the game and was ejected by Umpire Chris Tiller for “arguing balls and strikes.”
Tiller is a AAA manager who is filling in for a vacationing umpire.
Baltimore starts a two game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday at 7 PM.
The Orioles are now 9-16.
