Earlier today on MASN the Orioles introduced their first Japanese player with a press conference at Camden Yards.
Koji Uehara, an All Star Pitcher from the Japanese Central League’s Yomiuri Giants, was introduced by Orioles’ President of Baseball Operations Andy MacPhail and answered questions with local and Japanese media.
Uehara used a translator to answer questions from the Baltimore media, but his personality shined through. While discussing his use of body language, Uehara stressed that he “liked girls.”
Uehara’s knowledge of Major League Baseball was limited, of course he did know who Cal Ripken is, and is well aware of the New York Yankees and fellow Japanese players in the big leagues.
Zaun’s back…
MASNsports.com’s Roch Kubatko is reporting that the Gregg Zaun deal is “almost done.” By the end of the week the announcement should be official and Zaun will be back in an Orioles uniform.
