Dealing Dan Duquette made his second move of the night by sending infielders Jemile Weeks and Ivan De Jesus to the Boston Red Sox for Kelly Johnson and Michael Almanzar.
Johnson has played just ten games in Boston after being acquired from the Yankees. He previously played for the Rays in 2013 and the Blue Jays in 2012. This stint in Baltimore completes his AL East tour — congratulations to him.
This season he’s slashing a cool .212/.290/.354 with six homers and 23 RBI. He’s played first, second and third base, left field and right field and DH’ed. The veteran lefty will likely serve as Manny Machado’s replacement.
#Orioles’ Duquette leaving no stone unturned. Kelly Johnson adds depth with Machado out and Pearce down for at least a few days.
