In 2006, Billy Rowell was the 17-year-old slugger selected in the first round by the Orioles who confidently told Baltimore fans he would one day hit the warehouse.
Today he’s the guy the O’s selected ahead of Tim Lincecum who was attempting to convert to pitching and was suspended 50-games for a drug violation.
Rowell finally made it to Double-A Bowie in 2011 after spending six seasons in Blue Field, Aberdeen, Delmarva and Frederick. He hit just.227 with no home runs and 11 RBI with the Baysox.
If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em!
Ryan Braun
Typical Orioles High School pick… And which of their picks have done anything in the minors??? Adam Loewen? Nope! Brandon Snyder? Kinda, but not for the O’s! Beau Hale? Nope!
Matt Wieters will be a great one but thats it! Markakis is overrated…
Oh, Dylan Bundy? Cause he’s smokin in the little leagues, right? Again, like all you freaking losers who talk about the Orioles minor leaguers being great, IT DOESN’T HAPPEN!!
Hey, how about Matusz??? Yeah he’s living up to his billing! Right Mark Brown??? Mark’s kinda quiet on the Matusz subject lately because he doesn’t want to admit I’m right…
Agree,,,,,,,,the scouting and development has kept the O’s back for a dozen years now,,,,,,,,,there is a false sense of security this year because the Yanks and Bosox are hurting and down a bit,,,,,,,,,,believe me , it won’t be for long as these organizations want to win , when the O’s have a good year it’s because others have fallen , what a team………
He didn’t use steroids. Or at least he didn’t fail the test for steroids. “Drug of abuse” means he was taking a substance other than steroids. It would say “performance enhancers” if it were steroids
What about HGH……….
