Your Baltimore Orioles continue to hang in the race in the American League with another fantastic extra inning win. On Sunday, Baltimore edged Tampa Bay 1-0 and secured a winning road trip against the Yankees and Rays.
Here are a few crazy stats from your friendly local Orioles beat writers:
- The Orioles are now 57-51 and stand in second place. On August 5, 2011, the O’s were 43-66. On August 5, 2010 they were 35-73.
- In the Orioles 36 extra innings played they season, they have outscored opponents 24-5.
- The Orioles have won 11 consecutive extra-innings games, the second longest streak from any team in the last 27 seasons.
- The Birds have won 10 straight one-run games.
- Baltimore won their series in Tampa Bay by scoring just 5 runs with no home runs and three extra-base hits. Their team ERA was 0.67 and starters ERA was 0.92 in that three game series.
Sing it with me now, “something magic happens…“
I wish the trolls would just sit back and enjoy this unfathomable season. If you look at the roster and the stats it just doesn’t make sense. Will it last? Who knows, but if you keep waiting for the wheels to fall off, you’re just going to miss the ride.
Miss the ride to where? The inevitable dead end of a 75 Win season? I’ll pass, thanks…
I agree with Ol’Bruz,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the O’s are in the hunt because the rest of the division is have poor years , I can’t get behind a team that is in the running because the other teams are not that good , it’s a phalacy ,,,,,,,,,,,even if they get to the playoffs , when they face one of the real teams they will come up short , I want a team that can play with the big boys and win not a pretender like this lucky squad………………..
