Rumor has it that the Orioles are shopping Luis Ayala. At least according to the Baltimore Sun’s Dan Connolly.
Buck Showalter and the O’s have been particularly impressed with T.J. McFarland‘s performance this spring and they’re looking for a spot on their 25 man roster for him. The Birds are also looking for a backup catcher behind Matt Wieters and Taylor Teagarden.
Ayala pitched to a 2.64 ERA over 66 appearances last season. The 35 year old was a crucial part of the Orioles bullpen last season and honestly, I’m not a big fan of parting ways for him for a guy that’s performed well in spring training.
McFarland is making his first spring start today against the Red Sox. He’s thrown eight scoreless innings over his past three outings.
