Armando Galarraga is a Baltimore Oriole.

The former Diamondbacks and Tigers starter is most famously known for coming one out away from a perfect game in 2010.  That out was taken away from him by umpire Jim Joyce on a blown call at first base.  Joyce even admitted it after the fact.  In my mind, Galarraga is the only player to pitch a 28 out perfect game.

Though the story may never be forgotten, how Galarraga handled it often goes unnoticed.  “Nobody’s perfect,” Galarraga told reporters after the game.

Galarraga was honored at Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert’s Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear in October of 2010.  He won the rally’s “Medal of Reasonableness” and appeared via satellite from Venezuela to accept the honor.

Now that’s a guy you want in your locker room.
