Orioles: 8 Rangers 5
Recap: O’s rally late to win one game against Texas
Brad Bergesen took the hill as the Orioles starter on Sunday, but didn’t have the resuls he was expecting after his debut last Tuesday. Bergesen went only four innings and continued the Orioles’ trend of giving up homeruns to Rangers’ batters. David, Murphy, and Blalock all went yard on Sunday and Bergesen gave up 5 earned runs, resulting in his early exit.
Just like Saturday, the bullpen kept the Orioles in this game, but the bats took care of business for the O’s. Danys Baez got the win in relief during his 3 innings of work, Jim Johnson held things together during the 7th and Sherill recorded his 4th save. Sherrill retired 3 straight after staring the inning by giving up a lead off double to Andruw Jones.
In the 5th inning the O’s decided that enough was enough. Brian Roberts started things off with a solo homerun to right, his second of both the series and the season. Then Aubrey Huff singled to right which scored Nick Markakis and Luke Scott drove in Huff to put the Orioles within reach down 5-4.
With 2 on Adam Jones hit a deep shot to left center, Jones 3-run homer gave the Orioles a 7-5 lead and that was all she wrote.
The top 3 in the lineup (Roberts, Jones, and Markakis) went a combined 9 for 12 with 6 runs scored and 6 RBIs.
