The Ravens did acquire wide receiver Anquan Boldin Friday afternoon, but they lost a key part of their defensive line. Justin Bannan left the Ravens to play for the Denver Broncos.

Bannan was a reserve defensive lineman in Baltimore for four years. He got his chance to start in 2008 when Kelly Gregg was rehabbing from knee surgery. He has been a solid contributor next to Haloti Ngata on the defensive line.

The terms of his deal, monetarily, aren’t known, but it seems to be a five-year deal. Undoubtedly, Bannan will start for Denver and finally won’t be overshadowed by players he is even with in the talent department. This departure also fits for Bannan because he went to Colorado for school before playing for the Buffalo Bills.

This now means the Ravens are forced to get younger along the defensive line. The Ravens may go defensive tackle in the first round of the draft now. Also, it may put more importance on re-signing Dwan Edwards. What do you think?
