Orioles pitcher Alfredo Simon is expected to be released from jail within the next 10 days after he was cleared as the suspect in a fatal shooting in the Dominican Republic. Brittany Ghiroli reported that two sources told MLB.com that Simon’s case has made “significant progress.”

Orioles pitcher Alfredo Simon, who remains in a Dominican Republic jail as a suspect in a fatal shooting incident on New Year’s Day, is expected to be cleared and possibly released within the next week to 10 days, two sources told MLB.com on Sunday night.

Simon’s agent Phil Isaac that that he expects Simon to be “pitching very soon.”
