With the mid way mark of the season passing us, we now have a pretty good idea of what teams are players or pretenders at this point in the 2009 NFL Season. Here are the facts: we know who the cream of the crop is in both conferences with the Saints running away with the NFC and the Colts in the AFC. I can say with a lot of confidence that these two teams will be playing a lot of home games come playoff time. The big question though, is who is going to be competing with these two teams for that infamous Lombardi Trophy so here are my predictions.
NFC
1. New Orleans Saints (Home Field Advantage & 1st Round Bye)
2. Minnesota Vikings (1st Round Bye)
3. Dallas Cowboys
4. Arizona Cardinals
5. Philadelphia Eagles
6. Atlanta Falcons
AFC
1. Indianapolis Colts (Home Field Advantage & 1st Round Bye)
2. New England Patriots (1st round Bye)
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
4. Denver Broncos
5. Cincinnati Bengals
6. Baltimore Ravens
Most of these picks are not a shock to anybody but the one you may be surprised with is your hometown Baltimore Ravens taking the 6th and final seed in the AFC. The reason I picked them is because I don’t think they are as bad as their record indicates and I think they have enough veteran leadership to get hot towards the end of the season. Who knows these picks could be completely wrong and it’s a good chance they will be. Folks this is where football starts to get exciting, so make sure you’re strapped in tight because it’s going to be one hell of a ride all the way until February!
