Earlier this season, Orioles “ace” Chris Tillman ran into some struggles. I tried to figure out what was wrong with Tilly, here.
As of late, Chris Tillman is becoming the so-called “ace”. He has held opponents to two runs or less in six consecutive starts. Those starts have seen only five runs in 41.1 innings, and a 30 to 6 strikeout to walk ratio. Wednesday night, Tillman was one out away from a complete game shutout, which would have been the O’s first since Miguel Gonzalez last September.
Tillman noted in MASN’s postgame interview last night that earlier this year, he was missing arm-side, and he adjusted by sliding over on the rubber, allowing him to throw more strikes, and induce weaker contact.
However Chris Tillman finds success, is fine with me. The Orioles need Tillman to go out every fifth day, and give the team a chance to win if they want to return to the playoffs this season.
