Yesterday we reported that the Orioles are for sale according to 106.7 The Fan’s Eric Bickel. The story became all the rage around Baltimore as it turns out that folks are pretty excited about a potential ownership change.
An “Orioles official” tells the Baltimore Sun that there is “absolutely no truth” to the rumors that Angelos is looking to sell. That statement discouraged pretty much the entire fan base.
But not so fast.
Bickel is standing by his source saying that he wouldn’t expect a PR person for the Orioles report anything different. “All I can say is the people with money in town know differently,” Bickel tweets.
“They should be asking the potential buyers,” he adds.
I’m of the belief that everything is for sale. You want my car? I’m not selling it right now, but if you knock on my door with a brief case full on benjamins then we can chat about it.
There Orioles sale probably isn’t that simple, but the comparison likely isn’t far off. Bickel reports that these talks are “private.” If negotiations are going on, fans shouldn’t expect to hear about them like they are in Los Angeles with the Dodgers.
Someone should knock on Steve Bisciotti’s door in Annapolis and ask him what’s up. It sounds like if anyone would know it would be him.
I hope this is true, this would be the best thing to happen in decades. Mark Cuban anyone???
Cuban wouldn’t come close to this because there is no money in it for him. Plus, even if he went all in, he’d want to move the team to be closer to him so hope that he is not looking at it. I think there should be a group of fans that put the team in the hands of the fans. kinda like the Green Bay thing. Not sure it could work for baseball though.
Yeah, if Biscuit bought them at least they would go to the playoffs each year, which would certainly be a huge step up.
They’d never advance to the World Series, but going to the playoffs would be great.
Remember, Uncle Peter is from Pittsburgh…
Bisciotti can’t afford to purchase the O’s , most of his money is tied up in his business and the Ravens,,,,,,,,there are not many people wealthy enough to own the controlling interest in more than one team,,,,,,,,,,most likely it will take an ownership group headed by someone like Ripken , not enough money to stand alone but well liked enough to carry the ball,,,,,,,,,,,,, all we can do is hope for this to happen , I was a season ticket holder a dozen years ago and would love to get back to that point , but I refuse to put one dollar in the O’s until they put a wining team on the field , that may take some time,,,,,,,I’m willing to put up advance money if new ownership shows an interest in winning,,,,,,,,,,,I would love to have a burning interest in baseball once more , I do miss it…………
