Sure you’ve seen fans run on the field during a baseball game, even batman, but have you ever seen a kid take the field?
Thursday in Chicago a kid ran onto field in middle of the Orioles matchup with the White Sox. The child was scooped up by left fielder Dayan Viciedo and returned to the parents that likely encouraged the kid.
Here’s the video.
Adam Jones weighed in on the incident on Twitter.

Casey Willett tweeted that the kid and his parents were ejected from the stadium after the incident. Not sure if he was kidding about that or not. Wouldn’t doubt it, though. Seems like a reasonable punishment as opposed to throwing the little guy in jail for the night.
The kid’s Dad placed him on the field.
From the Chicago Sun-Times:
The most notable fan in the small crowd was a small boy about 4 years old who went over the rail along the left-field line and sprinted toward center field. Left fielder Viciedo scooped him up and handed him to a security person giving chase. The boy, wearing a knit Sox hat, was returned to a man who appeared to be his father.
In accordance with MLB rules, the boy’s family was ejected after security reviewed videotape and saw the boy being placed on the field by an adult.
“I was thinking that I hoped a ball doesn’t come and hit him, so that is why I instinctively went to grab him,’’ Viciedo said. “I didn’t know if the play had stopped or not.’’
