Sports Illustrated is showing the DMV a little love on their latest cover featuring Baltimore Orioles centerfielder Adam Jones and Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin. The issue features previews of the 2014 MLB postseason and 2014-15 NHL season.
A lot of folks, both inside and out of Maryland/D.C./Virginia, will think a cover featuring a Baltimore athlete and a D.C. athlete is a bit odd, but as an Orioles and Capitals fan, I love it.
The fact is, whether we choose to believe it or not, D.C. and Baltimore fans often intersect. There are lots of Orioles and Washington football fans and if you like hockey or basketball and live in Maryland, odds are you root for the Caps or Wizards.
