  • I guess I never really saw the issue with Jones playing shallow. He won a gold glove last year.

The Gold Glove is an award voted on by people watch less games than many of us.

Jones absolutely played too shallow last year.

      Mark,
Your minimizing one of the standards that baseball uses to match players against players. Should we get rid of the HOF since many players juiced for the past 20 years and the stats are inflated?

  • Mark

    You guys are unreal.

    Watch the games.

The coaching staff does and they've asked Jones to play deeper.

    Gee, I wonder why?

Yeah, but it is Trembles and his staff we're talking about. I wonder what a real MLB coaching staff would say…

Do you judge football players on pro bowls? Sounds like it.

You are absolutely right I'm minimizing a Gold Glove. I'm minimizing it because it routinely goes to undeserving players and has become somewhat irrelevant.

I mean, the way it's awarded flawed in the first place. They don't award a Gold Glove for RF/CF/LF. They just give it to 3 OFs, all of whom could play the same position.

I've already shown evidence of how bad it is with Palmeiro winning it when he played in a handful of games at first.

I know some of you think Jones is some perfect phenom but he needs to work on most parts of his game, including his positioning the field.

    • Every player needs to work on most parts of his game. I wouldn't diminish the Gold Glove as extensively as you have Mark.

Pro Bowls and All Star games are similar judgements that can be minimized, but don't tell me Adam Jones didn't deserve to win his GG last year.

Then don't tell me he doesn't need to play a deeper center when even the coaches think he does.

GG fall into the same category as Pro Bowls and All Star selections.

        Been that way for years.
